Description
The dental explorer or sickle probe, thanks to its sharp tip, is used with to improve tactile sensation, but also: to determine the presence of tooth decay on tooth enamel; to detect calculus and caries; to examine pockets, furcations and restorations.
To locate canal orifices, especially in posterior teeth. Additionally, it enables to better determine the angle of the canal orifice as it exits apically from the chamber.
